KL PAC - PASSION

on 2nd april 2008, we have a class trip to KL PAC in Sentul. that was the first time i arrived there. for me personally, that place is gorgeous because they keep all the old building just in a same way without renovating it. the question that keep wondering in my head is "IS THE PLAY INTERESTING?" i love to watch play, but is it interesting or not.
now, come to the play. the story line of play is actually not very interesting. but, the intro is interesting because there is a voice who begin the play by briefly describe what is actually happen to the first character. this play is a pantomime, so we have to interpret ourselves its meaning based on the dance. what i understand from the play is that, the main character fall in love with the two class which in the same dance class with him. the stage direction is also interesting, because they just use "3slides" and they just move that up and down. the way they manage with the small stage is very impressive. what attract me the most is the dance. they can dance very well and i was very impressive to see that they can manage to maintain their stamina until the end of the play. they was soo good.
i really-really hope that i can go to KL PAC once again and see another play.

macbeth

Macbeth is the most popular play that been play since ages. it is one of popular Shakespeare's play.
what i know from my reading is that, the play, loosely based upon the historical account of King Macbeth of Scotland by Raphael In the theatrical world, many superstitions are associated with "Macbeth," all connected with the belief that the play is somehow "cursed." Many actors will not mention the name of the play aloud, referring to it as "the Scottish Play". it is a fun play to watch because i love movie that fill which voilence. and the message that the play want to portrayed is clearly to understand. it shows that, because of the greed in Macbeth to be a king, at the end of the story he was killed. another things that is very interesting about this story is the costumes. it is so different from other play. it looks weird but nice and look so rich. as a conclusion, this story is very interesting.

wallah

the first drama that we watch for this subject. actually i am a person that like to watch old movie. before i watch that movie, i feel very excited to watch and i already thought that it must be a black and white movie. but what i thought that the story is interesting is actually wrong. i don't understand the story at all. it is so hard to understand what is actually the story want to convey. but when it reach at the funny scene, i laugh even though sometime i don't understand what is the funny thing thing happened. until the end of the story, i still cannot understand. what i know is just the girl keep fighting with the man, but after that she get back with him.

simulated teaching

our first simulated teaching for this subject this semester. this semester, we do it with Miss Baiti. but there is something different for this semester.we have to evaluate others by fill in some form.Miss Baiti have already given us the form before we done our simulated teaching. we have to photocopy it for all for them to evaluate us. in the form, there is also the guidelines for us to know which and what to evaluate. what i would like to focus on is that, how i grade others and how others grade me.
how i grade others is based on their performance and based on their language that has been used. the performance is during their set induction and the while reading stage. it is also been focusing on the exercise that they have design, how they arrange the lesson and many more. how people grade me, i cannot tell more because i haven't done my simulated teaching yet. but i think that others will grade me just like what i am focusing on.

steetcar named desire

a streetcar named desire is a play based on the books written by Tennessee William. this play is about two siblings who choose to live in a different live. Stella and Blanche is the main character. Stella lives in a simple life with her husband, Stanley. but things change when Blanche come to live with them. Blanche is a person who have to face with many problems in her life until she have problems with her mental. Stanley don't really like Blanche actually but because of his desire towards what Blanche have, he raped Blanche when Stella is at the hospital, giving birth for their baby. Stella didn't believe when Blanche said that Stanley raped her and Stanley said that Blanche is crazy. they decided to send Blanche to the mental hospital. that was the end. but the play is interesting than others and it is more easy to understand.

set induction - Miss Baiti

After finishing examine about Oedipus Rex, Miss Baiti told us that we need to do the set induction for the play and we have to focus on the theme of the play only. for me, set induction is very important because it is the first step for the teacher to activate students schemata and it is they way for the teacher to greet student's attention during the lesson. the set induction was well conduct but i am not really sure about mine. i am quite nervous at that time. but the most interesting that i find during the session is when Priya do the set induction. it is very interesting and she involves all the students during the activity. it is really relate to the lesson and she can get the students attention.

Teiresias..

Teiresias is some sort of fortune teller who tell prophecies to others who need his help. He is a blind person and different story were told for the causes of his blindness. the basic story that i know is that he is blind cause by the god and it is because he reveals their secrets to others.
In Oedipus The King, Oedipus, the king of Thebes, calls Tiresias to lead in the investigation of the killing of the previous king Laius. At first, Tiresias refuses to give a direct answer and instead hints that the killer is someone Oedipus really does not wish to find. However, after being provoked to anger by Oedipus' accusation first that he has no foresight and then that Tiresias had had a hand in the murder, he reveals that in fact it was Oedipus himself who had (unwittingly) committed the crime. Outraged, Oedipus throws him out of the palace, but then afterwards realises the truth.
In my personal opinion, Teiresias is a noble person but it is normal for people to hate people who did the good things and others love them. the same things goes to Teiresias but he just accept the fate with his full heart.

In the name of Love

Miss Irene come to our class and ask us to answer questions take from two scene in different drama, Dance Like a Man by Mahesh Dattani and In the Name of Love by Ramli Ibrahim. I don’t have any idea what is it all about because we didn’t learnt about it yet. But, the scene in In the Name of Love is very interesting for me in term of the speaker, the language and also the content of the scene. In that scene, the speaker was named as Mak su and she speaks to invisible listener named as Li. In this scene, Mak su used Malay English as the toll of conversation. For me, it is intereting becuase it is different from other scene that i have learnt before this in Now Read On. It is very easy to understand and i can really know what is the writer trying to say. The content is also attaract my attention so much. In my personal opinion, it is one of the way to convey the information about Mak Yong because nowadays, lots of people tend to forget and some don’t even know about Mak yong. It is also related with my hometown. I cannot describe much about this scene but i hope that all of my friends will enjoy it as i do.

Short Performance

The things that i will consider for my short performance are as follow:

v The role of the character.
v Relationship between characters
v Setting

The first thing that i will consider for my short performence is the role character itself or my own role. I have to know what character that i have to act, whether as a teacher, baby, daughter, or animal. I will also consider about the characer’s background whether he is rich, or poor, well educated or not, or whether traditional or modern people. This elements is important because it will help me to feel more in the character.The second thing is relationship between characters. Are you mother and daughter, teacher and student or employer with the employee. This must take into consideration because it will lead me to know how to perform very well. This also include with my intonaion and gesture beacause if we are in different rank with another character, we will produce our conversation differently.The last thing is setting. Setting is important because it will help me to be in the right atmosphere of the performance. For example, if the conversation took part at the market or school, it will effect my speech tone. Prof. Madya. Dr Malachi Edwin Vethamani had done a short performance in class and it was so fun. What i can learnt from the activity is as a performer, we have to have all those element so that we can be a good performer. That also include the creativity of the performer.

Stages of human life

The Four Ages of Man – William Butler Yeats

He with body waged a fight,
But body won; it walks upright,
Then he struggled with the heart;
Innocent and peace depart.
Then he struggled with the mind;
His proud heart he left behind.
Now his war on God begin;
At stroke of midnight God shall win

This poem is from William Butler Yeats entitled “The Four Ages of Man” and he stated in those poem that there are 4 stages of life. But according to Shakespeare in “As You Like It”, he said that there are 7 stages of human life. But as for me, every person have different view or perception of human life. I feel that no matter how many stages of human life, the most important thing is that how people appereciate their life and use all the memont that they have wisely. And the most imporant thing is that, how we numberd our stage of life. It is because, we as a human being cannot do all of the things in just one time. We don’t even khow when our life here will end, don’t know when we are going to be dead, when this this world is going to end or over and lots more to think about. Our life is so short short, so don’ t waste it. Even though we have planned so many things to do in our life, don’t ever assume that we can make it but just pray for God and try our best. As a conclusion, no matter how many stages that our life have, just appreciate and enjoy your life.

no idea what to write

This is actually my second time using this blogspot but i have already forgot what is my account before this. But, because of this subject, i will be very glad to create another one. actually i don't know what to write so i have decided to talk about this blogging thing.

actually, i dun really know what is this purpose of blogging in this course. but maybe Dr. Edwin have his own reason. I rarely come to cyber cafe to surf but because of this blog, i can come to cyber cafe a lot and i like it so much. but, whatever happen, i will try my best to finish this task and i hope that i can get that 10% from Dr. Edwin.
